It’s been less than a month since I created Rocsi Rocks the Blog. In this short time frame, RRTB has been chosen as one of Feedspot’s Top 30 Inspirational Blogs and recently I have been nominated for the Blogger Recognition Award. I am so blessed and truly humbled by the success of RRTB in such a short time frame. However, I am just getting started and still have a lot of work to do!
What is the Blogger Recognition Award?
The Blogger Recognition Award an award that is given to bloggers by bloggers to encourage, acknowledge and promote the hard work and effort that goes into creating their blogs. It’s an opportunity for bloggers to recognize one another for their contributions, both to their blog and the blogging community!
I want to thank all of you who frequently visit RRTB and all of you who just stumbled upon the site. Thanks for being here! I also want to give great thanks to Lauren Najar, creator of the Laugh Always blog site, who nominated me for this award. As a new blogger, it means a lot that she considered me to be worthy of a nomination for this award. I am very grateful! Thanks again, Lauren!
RRTB began when I decided to face my fears and start my own blog. I’ve always had a passion for writing, but was nervous to share my own personal work with the world. After constantly being encouraged by family, friends and coworkers, I finally decided to give it a try. My site was created to provide a space of positivity and inspiration for my readers; I’m able to do this by sharing my personal experiences and advice from the lessons I’ve learned along the way. Even though managing my own website can be discouraging, frustrating and stressful sometimes, it’s totally worth it and I’m so happy I did it! My Advice to New Bloggers:
- Do your research. Creating a successful blog is 100% not as easy as it may seem. It’s way more than just creating a WordPress account and posting your work. I jumped out on a limb when creating this site; I had to learn about logos, website design, hosting sites, plug-ins, widgets, advertisements, promotions, SEO, blogging communities, etc. on my own. In short, I had to do (and am still doing) a lot of research to figure out exactly how the blogging world works! There’s a lot that goes into having a successful blog and, if you want to succeed, you have to be willing to learn about the industry first.
- Be yourself. It’s okay to look at other people’s blogs for inspiration, but your content, your website design and your overall theme needs to be your own. I get all of my inspiration from my own experiences. I do not use a blog topic generator or go on other people’s websites to see what they talk about. I want my work to be authentic and have my own unique perspective and ideas, so I make a conscious effort to only write about what inspires or is meaningful to me. This, in turn, makes my work meaningful to others. Yes, other people might talk about some of the same topics as you, but it’s important to make your content your own. Make sure you’re genuine, authentic, creative, unique and informative!
I’m paying it forward and nominating 9 other bloggers with really cool blogs (yes, I’ve switched it up a little)!
