Devotional Sunday: Jesus Today
Happy Sunday, rockstars! It’s Devotional Sunday and today’s devotional is Jesus Today by Sarah Young. If you guys remember the How My Spiritual Journey Began post, then you already know why this book is so special to me.
Jesus Today is the devotional that my sister got me for my birthday a few years ago. It was the book that started my spiritual journey! Okay, I might be a little bias because this book has sentimental value to me, but it honestly is a really good book! Let me tell you about it.
This book is written by Sarah Young who has a series of Jesus Calling books for children and adults. Her book, Jesus Today--the sequel to Jesus Calling–won 2013 Christian Book of the Year. I’m also reading her book, Dear Jesus, which comes next in the series (I’ll discuss Dear Jesus in a future Devotional Sunday post).
Jesus Today is 349 pages, which sounds like a lot, but it’s meant to be read once a day (or as many times as you want). Every page of the book is written from the perspective of Jesus; it is as if he’s talking directly to you, personally reassuring you of his presence and grace. Every message from Jesus is justified with scriptural references from the Bible that you can refer to if you’re yearning for more.
Of course, this is a great read for all Christians, but it is particularly great for those who are feeling discouraged, need encouragement or simply want to enhance their relationship with God. Every page of this book is filled with reassuring words that will remind you that God is always present and in control.
This book was exactly what I needed at the start of my spiritual journey. It truly gave me faith and hope and enhanced my connection with God. I highlighted nearly every page of this book and I recently went back to read the pages that really touched my heart.
Jesus Today is a timeless book that you can always refer back to and I am truly thankful that my sister gifted it to me several years ago.
This book, as well as the other books in Sarah Young’s Jesus Calling collection, can be found at Lifeway stores or online.
If you’re looking for an encouraging boost and daily comfort in your spiritual life, I highly recommend that you read Jesus Today.
